LEBANON — On Sunday, Nashville Superspeedway made the announcement about the opening of Legends Plaza. Carl Edwards, a former NASCAR driver who won six races at the track, was appropriately chosen as its first honoree.
“This is more than an honor,” declared Edwards. “NASCAR is a dream for me, and I have to pursue it.”
The Legends Plaza will be constructed at the track’s entrance and will be open all year to spectators. The plaza’s promenade will be lined with large bronze guitar picks bearing the names, accomplishments, and signatures of the inductees. At a press conference before the Ally 400 on Sunday, Edwards’ choice was made public.
Edwards retired at age 36.
